Templates & Snippets
Keep consistency across your notes – for both you and your organization.
Forensic Note offers you two methods to accomplish this, by making it easy to quickly duplicate commonly used notes, notebooks, and folder structures.
- Snippets (add reusable content to an individual note)
- Templates (add reusable structure of folders / notebooks / and notes)
Advanced Mode Only
Templates & Snippets are currently only available in Advanced Mode at this time.
Advanced Mode REQUIRES using a desktop or laptop computer.
Creating Snippets
Snippets are useful when you have forms, tables, or other types of notes that are often re-used in every investigation.
Snippets are accessible from within the note Toolbar Editor:
- Create Snippet
- Insert Snippet

Toolbar Editor
To create a snippet, simply create a note with content you intend to reuse in multiple notes.
For example, in the field of Digital Forensics you may have a standard information you complete when accepting a new digital exhibit.
You could create or copy a table into your notes, as shown below, to ensure this information is always captured.

Example Snippet Content
Once the content you want to save is complete, click Create Snippet to save this template.
Now you can add this Snippet to any new notes via the Insert Snippet button.
Inserting Snippets
When you create a snippet it is saved and accessible any time from the Toolbar Editor.
Click Insert Snippet and a pop-up box will appear listing all of your existing snippets.
Select the appropriate Snippet and click Insert Snippet at the bottom of the menu.
You can also delete existing snippets from this menu.
